“And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, ‘Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.’” Exodus 1:22 KJV
Moses was indeed cast into the river.
“Noah floated in an ark of trees, Moses floated in an ark of reeds,
saved by Grace to deliver God’s Word to the human race;
Both crossed a flood, one turned the Nile into blood.
They awaited the sinless Savior Divine,
the one who could turn the water into wine,
and wrestle thirsty vessels, including mine.”
- V. A. Campbell
A light snack of hidden manna:
After Aaron was born, Pharaoh decreed that the Hebrew boy babies should be cast into the river and Moses’ mother Jochebed obeyed the decree, and thus Moses, a Levite, great-grandson of Jacob and Leah, became part of Pharaoh’s household, raised as an heir to the throne of Egypt, typology of the world, foreshadowing Christ’s reign over the world.
The Holy Spirit is the River of Life and the Single Author of the Bible
At the showdown on Mount Carmel, Elijah poured water around the altar. Preachers say the water is typology of the Word of God. This is true, Jesus is the Word, and he is the Fountain of Living Water, as prophesied by Jeremiah. It was Paul who told us that our unrenewed minds are washed by the Word and unbent from sin as God writes his Law in our hearts.
“That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,” Ephesians 5:26 KJV
The Holy Spirit is the author of the Word of God and He is the River of Life, but He needed a man to write so that man in the flesh could have an instruction manual to learn of God that would last down through the ages. Moses was a deliverer sent to deliver the Word of God to man.
The Spirit raised up Moses, a thirsty vessel drawn from the water of the Nile river, to pour out the water of the Word from the River of Life, onto the dry land of your heart.
The Genealogy of Moses the Prophet, the Law Giver
Abraham and Sarah begat Isaac, the 2nd generation of Abraham.
Isaac and Rebekah begat Jacob, the 3rd generation of Abraham.
Jacob and Leah begat Levi, their 3rd son, in the 4th generation of Abraham.
“And the sons of Levi; [were] Gershon, Kohath, and Merari,” Genesis 46:11 KJV
Levi lived 137 years, Exodus 6:16 KJV. Kohath and Jochebed are siblings in the 5th generation of Abraham.”Kohath begat Amram,” Numbers 26:58 KJV.
Kohath lived 133 years, Exodus 6:18 KJV.
His son Amram lived 137 years, Exodus 6:20 KJV. Amram is of the 6th generation of Abraham.“And the name of Amram's wife was Jochebed, the daughter of Levi, whom her mother bare to Levi in Egypt [sister of Kohath]: and she bare unto Amram Aaron and Moses, and Miriam their sister,” Numbers 26:59 KJV.
Aaron and Moses and Miriam are born in the 7th generation of Abraham; their parents Jochebed and Amram are of the 5th and 6th generations of Abraham. Miriam, Aaron, and Moses are the direct great-grandchildren of Jacob and Leah through their mother Jochebed, the daughter of Levi, sister of their grandfather Kohath. Miriam is the eldest (Exodus 2:4), Aaron was three when Moses was born (Exodus 7:7). Pharaoh issued his decree after Aaron was born because Aaron was not cast into the river.
Moses is the youngest, therefore God honored the elder Aaron with the appointment to High Priest, as Jesus Christ, the eldest of Mary, is our eternal High Priest after the Order of Melchizedek, Psalm 110:4, the one separated from his brethren like Joseph will wear the crown, as Jacob prophesied in Genesis 49:26. It is important to understand that Aaron and Moses are directly linked to Jacob and Levi.
The line of Kohath is a line of prophets and prophetic psalmists. Therefore Miriam was called a prophetess and had dreams; Aaron held the prophetic role of High Priest, a placeholder for the true High Priest to come, the Son of David, Jesus Christ; and Moses had the power of the rod of God, and the vision gifts of a prophet of God, and he met with God face to face.
The Children of Israel were in Egypt 430 years, Exodus 12:40-41. Levi went into Egypt with the 70 of Jacob in 1876 BC, and Moses brought them out in 1446 BC.

Turning the River into Blood
God turned the river into blood because Pharaoh decreed death on the Israelite boys trying to cease God’s plan of redemption. If life is in the blood, then sin is also in the blood. Therefore the Nile River they worshipped, as the river of life, was a false god and was judged by God, turning it into stinking blood, that brought death, the same as sin brings spiritual death.
Turning the Water Into Wine
While Moses turned the river into blood, the first miracle Jesus Christ performed was turning the water into wine at the wedding in Cana. The water he turned into wine was drawn out of the purification water pots of the Jews used to sanctify/wash their bodies. Jesus turned the water into wine that came from the vessels used for sanctification. Just like he sanctifies the water baptized human vessels through the obedience to his commands found in the Word. Therefore, sanctify yourselves, the wine of the Gospel is the New Testament written in his own holy blood.
Jesus is the Word. The Word is the water. And when Jesus died, he mixed his blood into the water and turned the water of the Word into the wine of the Gospel, Luke 20:22.
A lifestyle of repentance is the way to holiness, the way to partake of the New Wine, the way to receive the Baptism in the Holy Spirit for the power to become the sons of God.
